Online surveys

Online surveys eliminate many of the costs associated with paper surveys:

  • Printing questionnaires.
  • Distributing questionnaires to respondents.
  • Collecting the completed forms for analysis.
  • Inputting and processing the data from the paper forms.

And of course online surveys are better for the environment because they avoid the use of paper.

There is also greater confidentiality, because the forms are not handled by anyone. This is particularly important for employee satisfaction surveys, where respondents might be unwilling to answer questions honestly if they think the forms could be seen by a senior manager.

Paper surveys

Of course, some clients still prefer to use the traditional paper-based questionnaire.

It makes no difference, in terms of survey methodology, but it does impact on the cost of the survey, due to the extra materials and labour required.
